California golden Poppy
The poppies are blooming! This sweet delicate wildflower is the official state flower, and April 6 is its designated day. Native to grassy and open areas, the free branching poppy has finely divided leaves of bluish-green. The blossoms are single, with satin-soft petals of about 2-3 inches that are shaped like tiny cups and are long lasting. They always close at night, opening again in the morning with a blaze of colors. Joy!

How wonderful poppies ! I have never seen golden ones as these. They are really beautiful, like little suns. Are they blooming now ? Here at my place there are still snow, but we certainly can feel the spring is coming on … A glorious , gratifying season :))
They are so beautiful and fresh. They seem to come out of nothing in the wild, with a big Drang to grow.. and if you nourish them a bit.. they just get crazy and take over… never ending EXPANSION.
Bliss
PD: They just started blooming, Ane Lis, wild here in San Francisco Bay Area, all over the place.
And their faces are stretching up to the light! They call us to go sing and dance with them, don’t you think? LET’S!!!! Catch a sunbeam or a moonbeam and hurry on over!
love the contrast of the gold and the blue sky - beauty! sigh….
The fields are filled with poppies right now, and their sweet golden electrical energy! Here’s a photo of one field of poppies leading up to magnificent Californian oak.
